Good images but auto focus does not function., March 12, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED 2x Teleconverter (4 Elements) + Nwv Direct Microfiber Cleaning Cloth. (Electronics) Can produce some nice images, but the auto focus does not work. Tried the converter with three different camera bodies, a D40X, D60 and D3000 all using the Nikkor 70-300mm.lens. This same product is listed under many different listings, but looks to be the same under each list (annoying marketing technique that limits customer comments to smaller areas). Many of the images were overexposed by about two stops, some were spot on, a little practice should take care of this problem. It will not be returned as the auto focus is not important to me. I will update this as it gets more use.
After a year. Forget the auto focus, on a D7000 body the auto focus works but no good enough, manual focus is still better. Very fussy to use and needs a ton of light, a tripod and a remote. Forget it for anything that moves or if there is a wind. Images are also strongly affected by air quality. All that said, with the right light this will give an excellent image with a 50 - 300mm...
