A wonderful lens! The lens is relatively light in weight (especially when compared to the newer Tamron 28-300 VR lens that my wife has on her Nikon) making taking photos a real joy. The extended zoom range makes this a great general purpose lens..i.e for most situations the only lens you will need; especially useful when traveling. The image quality has been excellent, although at extreme zoom against a very light background I occasionally note some darkening around the edges (not unexpected). No lens is perfect, but on a features for the money basis, this one is not far off. The auto focus isn't quite as fast as the original Nikor lens that came with the camera, but much faster than I could do manually. So far can't tell a difference in picture quality either. For all-around picture taking this lens makes all my others obsolete. This review is from: Tamron AF 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro Zoom Lens with Built In Motor for Nikon DSLR (Electronics) The copy that I got is very sharp and the image quality is just great. I must say I am very happy with this lens. This lens is best paired with D90 to compensate the lack of VC. But of course, any lower model will also produce good results. At 250mm the image is quite soft but for me it is still usable. You will hardly notice this softness when you print it. I got my lens @ Photoworld at a very good price ($299.00). What a deal!
